Casper the Black Dog
Casper is a very large black dog. He's supposed to have some ridgeback in him, and that perhaps explains the hairs on his back, but I think he's at least two parts labrador and one part boxer as well.
We inherited him from the Berrys, along with Farley, soon after the criminals broke into the house one night. To stop the criminals throwing poisoned meat to the dogs, and to provide added protection, we then employed Abdul as night watchman.
Casper has a very powerful sounding bark, but he's essentially a complete softy. His bark makes him an effective guard dog. He's full of energy, and is liable to knock you off your feet with his enthusiasm.
I think his ambition is to be allowed into the house, but he's only been in once, when we had a rabid stray in the garden, and I didn't want any contact between them. I must have looked like a lion trainer - with a chair in one hand and a broom in the other - fending the stray away whilst I ushered Casper and Farley in from the khondi.
Casper got so excited about being in the house that he whacked all sorts of things with his tail. He has no idea of his own size, so the whole place was rearranged.
The stray eventually died down by the hedge, and Doviko got rid of it.

I thought you were going to post about the black dog of despair, Mingin! Casper sounds much better. It can bark and wag it's tail. The other black dog doesn't have a tail so it can't be a real dog. Ooops! Boxers don't have tails! Hotboy
Mingin! Is it the same in Africa with the bloggy thing, or do you have different technological problems? In the Unheard of Island we can't put these link things on the blog, so we can't just clicky and then go somewhere in bloggyland. Why are they doing this to us? Is it the penguins they don't like. Hotboy P.S. If I could I'd link to you because it feels warm there.
I say dear Hotboy, nice to hear from you. Robmcj said you might have some advice about modern headphones, in another message somewhere, which I could not possibly relocate.
Its beginning to get warmer in Kalimbuka. The landscape is very brown at this time of year, though. Lets hope the rains are better than last year.
An extremely knowledgeable Norwegian/Peruvian technical chappie was kind enouh to install my satellite/wireless/dish/internet setup for me. No problems since. Looks a bit like this one.
Perhaps you should invite him for a spring break at the UnHeard of Hilton.

Have you any photos of Casper? Also, Hotboy said you might be able to advise me on despair, in return for him advising you about headphone etiquette.
Dear Robmcj,
I took a decision not to post my own photographs on this blog, in order to retain some anonymity and for security reasons, but Casper probably once looked like this. Nowadays, and from the vantage point of a prospective criminal, he looks more like this.
As far as despair is concerned, my advice is: Don't.

When Farley has 'let one off' he tends to look a bit like this.

Casper is a black dog? How cute, I thought he would be white like "Casper the Friendly Ghost". The picture is precious. Seems as though most large dogs do not realize their size. So many of them think they are "lap dogs". Where is the Unheard of Hilton? (that is my last name too).
MM - in an effort to follow your advice, I doubled the dose of Somaloft to try and damp things down, which seems to work by giving me something new to worry about, the screaming jitters. Since then it has developed into streaming skitters. Of course the obvious solution is to blot it all out with a six-pack of Blues Healer, but I've even lost the will to drink.
What can you suggest?
Thanks.
LA - there is a map here, drawn up before the recent construction of the Hilton and the Club 18 to 50. On a clear day, you can just make out the two white buildings in the webcam.
The third, smaller building, is the unfinished site of the Jammy Dodger Regency, our failed venture into preserve-based tourism.

Dear Robmcj,
The CIA seem to have removed that map of the UnHeard of Islands from their files. Obviously there's a lot more going on there than one might think, and its probably all very hush hush. But at least you have a flag - obviously used only for convenience purposes.

My Dear Robmcj,
No idea about Somaloft, I'm afraid. What colour were they?
My advice is a cold shower, a brisk walk at sunrise, followd by forty press-ups, and then a full and complete evacuation. Pit latrines are the best location, as they allow a far superior crouching position.

Sorry to keep posting comments, but the CIA must have completed their editing of the map of UnHeard, as it is once more available.
Mingin! This photie of yours reminds me of Theodore Roosevelt. Did you know he starred in this great movie called Arsenic and Old Lace with Cary Grant? An elephant gun kind of a guy! Hotboy
MM - Blue and yellow.
My mother asked Cary Grant for his autograph. Might be worth something by now, but she throws everything out.
I hope this helps.
I think my autographs of the 1963 West Indies touring team were discarded somewhere between Loyangalani and Mogoditshane.
Sad, that.
