Scapa Flow
I say!
Well, we are just about ready for the oft. A brief sojourn in London, mainly to attend the annual Pitch Inspection Supervisors, Selectors and Umpires Pageant in the UnderGlobe, and then on to Antigua.
I would just like to invite any of you who happen to be in the vicinity of the Hawksbill Hotel, Antigua, on the afternoon of the 28th December, to look out for the wedding which we Milngavie's will be attending. If you later find me face down on the beach (its a beach wedding), please lead me back to the bar.
But before we depart, a further post about the Orkney Islands, where cricket was first played by Neanderthal man, and where I spent some weeks earlier this year.
On the island of Hoy, on the other side from the Old Man of Hoy (which I posted about previously), is a Visitor Centre & Museum which I highly recommend. What wonderful exhibits it has.
Much of the Museum is given over to explaining the events of 21st June, 1919, when 74 German battleships, cruisers and destroyers were scuttled. Some of those involved in the event are featured below, and no doubt here are a few relatives of RobMcJ. The German sailors had, the day before, been beaten in a limited overs match by their British guards, due largely to some appalling umpiring decisions, so I am reliably informed, and took out their anger on their own ships. There is surely no other explanation for this wanton act.

That would explain my own congenital inability at the cricket.
I'm not really up on the biology of sphagnum, but I do believe they make whisky out of peat. Perhaps Cabbage had "had a few" when he snubbed you.
Mingin'! I heard a woman on the radio who was at the scuttling as a child on a pleasure boat. She thought the sinking of the boats was part of the show! Good show, eh? Hotboy p.s. Enjoy Antigua! Whereabouts in Scotland is that?
