Cricket and blood

I say!

Just found this video clip of Akhtar bowling to Gary Kirsten. WARNING - Gary, who is a lovely man and excellent batsman, gets knocked out. Rather reminds me of the beamer Doviko bowled at Cabbage a while back.

Mingin! At last some decent action at the creekit! Unfortunately, I cannot work the video recorder ... but a knockout! More like it! The creekit has to be developed as a martial art, or only weird people will ever like it! One time, I recall, the bowlers started throwing it at the batters' heads. At last! Great! Then the batters started wearing hard hats and muzzles, like fung ice hockey goalies! Dearie me! What a silly game! Hotboy

I say Lee Ann and Hotboy!

Yes, I love playing cricket. The video that you were unable to view, Hotboy (and perhaps when I visit I can help you load QuickTime, showed a particularly nasty rising delivery from Akhtar hit Gary Kirsten on the helmet. The ball would have been delivered at close to 100 mph. Gary was floored, with blood gushing from his temple.

Nasty business. Fortunately it happens rarely, and thankfully, now that batsmen wear protective headgear, is rarely fatal.

My hero, Brian Close (Closey), who once captained England, wore no helmet. I must tell you more about that, and how he stood up to 'Whispering Death', the next time I've had a few.

Cabbage now insists on wearing the motorbike helmet when batting. I don't blame him either, though its too small for him and tends to sit on the top of his head.
