Okavango from the air

I say!

Here are some more snaps taken in the Okavango Delta, at, or near, Oddballs Camp. Its a wonderful place!

The light aircraft arrives.

Mrs M. and the boys sheltering from the sun under the wing.

The rather dry swamp from the air.

A village.

An oxbow.

Just to show what the results of a lack of rain can do, please ponder the next couple of snaps. Firstly, a few hours east of the Delta, at Victoria Falls, moi in front of the Falls.

From more or less the same vantage point, taken on a more recent visit.

Fabulous photies, Mingin! The effect of drought too! And the scary plane! Do the adolescents in the villages complain all the time that there's nothing to do since there are no youth clubs or anywhere for them to go and hang out? Just wondered. Hotboy

Excellent pictures, previously I had only seen an ox-bow on the blackboard in Dodo's class.

I say RobMcJ!

Thank you for your nice comment. Probably, you know them as billabongs in the UnHeards. Please tell - who is Dodo? Dudu I know well. She was my superior, some time ago. Lovely person, she was.

My Dear Hotboy, thank you so much for your encouraging comments.

About the San adolescents - I hope you may realise that village life in Africa varies considerably, from area to area. Africa is very large, as I'm sure you realise.

In the villages within the Okavango, it is not the same as in the Masai villages, for example.

In the Masai villages, they will get their mobiles out the moment the tourists arrive. This is because the tourists like to photograph Masai on their mobiles.

In the Okavango, its a bit different. There is lots to do, and there are very few tourists. You must have read Laurens van der Post?
